WHALES & STAYS ACCOMMODATION
The South African Whale Coast
ļ»æThe Overberg and the Whale Coast really are a hidden treasure: craggy mountains wind a jagged path toward often stormy oceans inhabited by schools of migrant whales, green hills grazed by wild antelope give gently onto tranquil lagoons and beaches, while tilled orchards and neat vineyards stretch out in wild contrast to the disorder of pristine forests.

There is a corner of this beautiful region to satisfy every soul ā¦ that of the artist, the photographer, the birdwatcher, the wine lover, the gourmet, the outdoor enthusiast, and the avid sportsman alike. A number of towns and small villages complement the areaās natural beauty. Life there is markedly unhurried, moving for the most part at a pastoral pace. Many also still have a close connection with the countryās pioneer past. Unsurprisingly, the beautiful surroundings and the pleasures of country living have attracted many newcomers, who have contributed greatly to a fascinating cultural pot pourri.

These pages reflect the essential character of the place: the natural surroundings, the modern and traditional structures, the many creative and industrious individuals who live here and, importantly, an insight into the activities with which they fill their days. Words and pictures can never replace reality, however, and few would argue that any experience of South Africa is incomplete without a visit to this peaceful corner of our land.
